This year’s class of 11 women and 29 men were selected from more than 100 nominations from all regions of the United States.
The diverse group of young men and women consist of 40 honorees who lead organizations across essential industries for our region, including technology, hospitality, real estate, health care, sports, and education. When these individuals are not contributing to local economic growth, they’re assisting their communities by volunteering at local nonprofit organizations.
On July 30th 2021, The South Florida Business Journal marked their first in-person event since February 2020 by celebrating the 40 Under 40 Class of 2021 during a luncheon event at the Signature Grand in Davie, Florida.
Alex Akel is the President of Akel Homes, a private semi-custom homebuilder in South Florida specializing in developing energy-efficient and design-oriented lifestyle communities within urban and suburban areas. He became a licensed contractor in the state of Florida by the age of 23. Moving forward, he learned every aspect of the real estate development and homebuilding business by “jumping right into the deep end” as he started to build out each department of Akel Homes. Today, Alex is one of the youngest homebuilding executives in the country, and is well-versed in all aspects of homebuilding: land acquisition, financing, design, purchasing, land development, construction, and sales, and marketing. Under his leadership, Akel Homes has established itself as one of the largest builders in South Florida.
Alex and the Akel Homes team are in the process of closing out Villamar at Toscana Isles, a resort-style, master planned community of 208 single-family homes in Lake Worth. Akel Homes has various development projects in the pipeline in Palm Beach and Port St. Lucie Counties due to break ground in 2022 and beyond.
