Akel Homes Joins Forces with Habitat for Humanity Greater Palm Beach for the 2023 Women Build To Empower Women and Families in Need

Akel Homes, a leading residential developer in South Florida, proudly announces its participation as a community sponsor for this year’s Habitat for Humanity Greater Palm Beach Women Build event.

The Women Build, which took place from March 7th to March 8th brought together women from across the county to support the cause of building affordable housing for families in need. The Akel Homes team volunteered on Friday March 8th and the team consisted of Teresa Tigert, Lauren Zinn, Libby Swanson, Jessica Spies and Destiny Morinvil, with a majority of the team having participated in previous years.

The day kicked off with introductions and encouraging words from the Habitat for Humanity Greater Palm Beach CEO Jennifer Thomason, Co-Chairs Clara Bennett and Sophia Eccleston and was followed by a lively dance-inspired warm up. From there the women-empowered crew was sent out to the homesites a few blocks away.

As a community-focused organization, Akel Homes is thrilled to have contributed to this worthwhile cause and to have worked alongside other sponsors and volunteers to make a difference in the lives of families in Delray Beach.

To be able to work alongside the families, and meet those who will be living in the homes we're helping build is a truly inspiring experience. At Akel Homes, we know the importance of providing safe and reliable shelter, so to volunteer with a company that aligns with this mission is a perfect match. Says Libby Swanson Design Studio Coordinator for Akel Homes.

In partnership with two Delray Beach Habitat for Humanity families, the women-empowered campaign raised over $300,000.
